Today I reveal to the world my new Fine Art Gallery website. This is a project several years in the making because of excuses that I'm not a web programmer--I'm an artist! However, with the help of a web editor program, I have been able to learn how to create the entire website by myself.
When we want something badly enough, and we're committed to making it happen, miracles are created.
Today is the day I move forward professionally as an artist--committed to my future in sharing my passion and talents--to inspire and connect with the world.
Channel 4 News Feature Interview
In 2005, Channel 4 News Utah interviewed me for my involvement of drawing portraits for a couple of families on the hit TV show that makes over homes for deserving families.
Today on Facebook, I posted on my wall the announcement of the date for the reveal of my new FINE ART GALLERY website. The date I've chose is this Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at 12p MT. So, on 12-10-10 at 12pm, I'll be hitting a huge milestone in my career--that of actually creating my entire website all on my own--well, with the assistance of a template through Weebly Editor--and, the fact that this new website is just that-a fine art gallery--no 'store', no shopping cart, or anything else--just a site showcasing most of my work: current originals (for acquisition), a portfolio of past paintings, portrait commissions, pen & ink commissions, and photography.
I've been following the guidelines for a 'gallery' website from my research in Caroll Michels' book "How To Survive and Prosper as an Artist". In it, I learned that it's best to have separate sites for a 'fine art gallery' and a 'store'--not both combined in one--which is what I've been doing. So, my new site, darinjones.com is going to just focus on my work--'gallery-style'.
I'm so proud of myself for actually doing the research and creating this site all on my own. I've bounced ideas off friends--which has been so important for feedback because, let's face it, I know what I like and want, but knowing what others like and want can be completely different from mine.
Today I even created a temporary 'announcement' page on my current site stating the reveal and date/time of my unveiling. So, anyone who happens onto my site will see that a new site is coming this Fri. Yay.
I know this new site will further my vision of "creating art that inspires and connects with people around the world".
BRING IT ON!
