THE PORTRAIT PROCESS
Darin considers each person he draws an honor and privilege. His vision and intention is to capture the ‘gifts’ he sees in each person so that they will be experienced by all who see the portrait.
Portraits are drawn in graphite (pencil) on acid-free, archival Museum Board and finished with archival spray fixative. You can combine people from different photos into one portrait; however, Darin does not do custom-staged arrangements that were not originally-staged (E.g., a parent from one photo and arranging them to hold a baby from another photo). For multiple children or people (other than a ‘couple’), Darin recommends having each person drawn individually and then if you’d like a ‘group portrait of everyone in one,’ he can combine the scans of the individuals into one group setting for prints’ purposes (for family members, for example). This way, each person’s portrait (in the example of children) can be ‘willed’ to them directly, so that the kids aren’t fighting over the original family portrait. Further explanation can be provided, just ask Darin. In planning ahead for your special occasion, please allow up to one month per person. Book today to guarantee work by your special day. A waiting list will come available when fully booked. If you would like to discuss your portrait further, contact Darin for a free consultation. To book the portrait, Darin will create an invoice and email it to you. Please Note: Although Darin draws people strictly from photographs—according to the quality of the photograph—whether in-focus or soft-blur, Darin adds light to the eyes and captures the person’s character and gifts, which enhances the overall quality and often results in a portrait even better than the photograph. Of course, the higher quality, in-focus photo, the higher quality portrait. 2023 PORTRAIT COMMISSION PRICING
